About 2 weeks before Retrograde, Mercury enters his pre-shadow phase, marking the beginning of Mercury's slow down, preparing for his Retrograde. 

This slow down period is important, as it gives us a preview of what to expect and what will be amplified during the actual Retrograde. These previews present themselves as recurring issues and emerging challenges and the two week period gives us time to prepare for anything involving the areas that Mercury governs: technology, communication, your mind, travel, and business. 

Should you fear Mercury's Retrograde? No! There is a lot of drama around what happens during Mercury Retrograde, but it's simply just different energy.
