What is Usui Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body’s natural ability to heal. It works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner’s hands to restore balance within the body, mind, and spirit.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Reiki is its simplicity—anyone can learn it, and no special background is required.
How to Become a Reiki Healer
Becoming a Reiki healer involves progressing through a series of training levels, each designed to expand your skills, confidence, and energetic awareness. These levels are traditionally taught by a Reiki Master Teacher and include Reiki Level 1, Reiki Level 2, Reiki Level 3 ART (Advanced Reiki Training), and Reiki Master Level.
Reiki Level 1
Reiki Level 1 is where your journey begins. This foundational training focuses on self-healing and developing your awareness of energy.
During this class, you will receive your first Reiki attunement, which opens your energy channels and allows you to begin working with Reiki energy. You’ll learn the history and principles of Reiki, practice hands-on self-healing techniques, and gain the ability to perform in-person Reiki sessions on others.
In my classes, I create a supportive and heart-centered environment where you can build confidence in sensing and working with energy. You’ll also learn grounding and protection techniques while practicing Reiki in a safe and nurturing space. Many students find this level deeply transformational, often experiencing emotional clarity, relaxation, and a stronger connection to their intuition.
Reiki Level 2
Reiki Level 2 expands your abilities and introduces more advanced techniques for working with energy.
In this level, you will receive a second attunement that increases your energetic capacity. You’ll be introduced to Reiki symbols, which help amplify and focus healing energy, and you’ll learn how to perform distance healing—allowing you to send Reiki across time and space.
This training also includes techniques for mental and emotional healing, as well as methods for clearing and protecting energy in spaces. As you deepen your practice, you’ll begin to strengthen your intuition and may feel called to work with clients professionally.
Reiki 3 ART (Advanced Reiki Training)
Advanced Reiki Training is designed for those who are ready to deepen their practice and step more fully into their healing path. This level is typically the first day of a Reiki Master training weekend.
You will receive an advanced attunement to further elevate your vibration, along with additional symbols and techniques that enhance your sessions. This training often includes working more intentionally with the chakra system, as well as exploring practices such as house blessings, manifesting with Reiki, and creating Reiki grids.
At this stage, many practitioners experience a significant expansion in both their healing abilities and their spiritual awareness. It’s a powerful level for personal growth as well as professional development.
Reiki Master
The Reiki Master level is the final stage of training and is intended for those who feel called to fully embody the role of a healer—or to teach Reiki to others.
During this level, you will receive the Master attunement and learn the symbols and techniques required to pass Reiki on through attunements. You’ll also gain guidance on how to teach Reiki classes and hold space for others in a responsible and ethical way.
This level goes beyond learning—it’s about embodiment, leadership, and service. As your teacher, I support you in stepping confidently into this role and integrating Reiki into your life at a deeper level.
How Long Does It Take to Become a Reiki Healer?
You can begin practicing Reiki after completing Level 1, but becoming a Reiki Master is a personal journey that unfolds at your own pace.
Some students move through the levels within a few months, while others take years. Both paths are equally valid. Each class is a one-day training, with Advanced Reiki Training and the Master level typically taught together over a weekend. While it’s possible to complete your training relatively quickly, giving yourself time to integrate each level often leads to a more meaningful experience.

Becoming a Reiki Master is a significant milestone, but it’s not the end of the journey. In many ways, it marks the beginning of a deeper path of growth and specialization.
